Darchelle Meunier Desks April 05, 2018 20:46:43
Desks for more than one person: larger desks that have significant depth can be used by two people - facing each other - see Partners’ Desks below. They would likely stand in the middle of an office or study to allow access to all sides of the desk. Obviously such desks also offer a very large work space for a single user.
Davenport desk: A small desk with an inclined lifting desktop giving access to a large compartment with ample storage space for paper and other writing implements. Escritoire: A small portable writing desk with a sloping front door hinged at the bottom edge that can be opened to provide a writing surface. It is usually larger than a lap desk.
Fall Front Desk: Considered the cousin of the Secretary Desk and has a main working surface or desktop which does double duty as a cover to seal up papers and other items located in small shelves or small drawers before the desk is closed. Partners desk: An antique desk which is basically two pedestal desks initially constructed as one big desk joined at the front for two users working while facing each other.
Other Furniture and Decorations: will the new desk or table match the other fitting and furniture in the room and its decorations? Sometimes a beautiful antique desk or table can actually be the focal point of the room and other pieces and decorations will be bought to match
As we continue to unleash the architectural function form and styles of the most common desk variations produced let’s examine the designs of the following writing desks: Bible Box Rolltop Desk and Bench Desk on a Chest Desk on a Frame Moore Desks Cubicle Davenport Escritoire Fall Front Desk Partners Desk and Chinese Altar Table.
Size: Does it fit the room? Can you access the desk and other parts of the room? Is it a comfortable height (small adjustments can be made - but only small changes)? Kneehole height and width? Check the depth of the desk so that the work surface can actually be reached?
